Did you Know? Black History month was initially Negro History Week. It was created in 1915 to celebrate the black community’s history by historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. The second week of February was chosen because Abraham Lincoln(Feb.12th) and Fredrick Douglass’s birthday(February 14th) fell in the same week. The black community celebrated both of these dates together since the late 19th century.

What were your goals for this week? We learned about dinosaurs, prediction in reading, money, and practiced math skills. We had plans for a trip to The Museum of Natural History today. Unfortunately our plans were thwarted by weather in the single digits! We're are hoping to make the trip next week.

The road to reading can be bumpy. But once you have arrived, it makes it all worthwhile. Aria struggled with the fear of being wrong. I did my best to instill confidence by letting her know it's okay to be wrong sometimes, especially when learning new things.
